Becoming the Sovereign Self:
A Guided Ten Day Journey

This immersive 10-day program is for the woman ready to know her inner voice, deepen her self-understanding, and engage the world with greater agency and presence.

Drawing on deep literacy practices, poetic inquiry, meditative writing, and philosophy, the program is designed to create lasting transformation. It integrates mind, body, and spirit to cultivate an authentic and powerful dialogue with your Self.

The program is highly selective and tailored and can be done in-person or remotely. It honors the unique journey of each woman while providing rigorous, copyrighted methods developed over two decades of writing, editing, teaching, and transformational coaching.

“Alex made me feel entirely at ease and had the perfect comments and questions to prompt me into a deeper and more powerful conversation with my own heart and mind. Alex listened to my narratives and guided me through my thought processes with her ‘verbal drafting and revision method,’ allowing me to real-time, reconsider, revise, and change deeply ingrained patterns of thought. The philosophical tools and techniques she used helped me access the truth, and express what felt unsayable...”

Start Your Journey: Becoming the Sovereign Self

In this 10-day program guides you from intellectual understanding to lived practice, and you will learn how literature and philosophy restores your connection to the living world, your psyche’s depth, and the sacred within and beyond you.

Program Overview

In this 10-day program, Alex integrates her signature deep literacy practices as a transformational writing coach and editor with her favorite Becoming Human Project audio course—The World, the Soul, and the Gods, by Yale-trained philosopher and scholar of religion, Samuel Loncar, Ph.D.to guide a woman back to her innate sovereignty. [Note: Alex loves em-dashes, and will never give them up no matter how much AI loves them.]

As a philosopher, Loncar has worked with global leaders and organizations like the United Nations, Trinity Church Wall Street, and Flagship Pioneering, and this course profoundly influenced how Alex thought and lived as a woman. Now, in partnership with Loncar’s Becoming Human Project, she is bringing the insights that she gained from the course + decades of writing, editing, and transformation coaching experience to you.

What’s Included & Outcomes

The World, the Soul, and the Gods is included with your program (3 lectures, about 30-35 minutes each), and it provides a rich and concise introduction to classical categories of philosophy and metaphysics: cosmology (what is the world?), philosophical psychology (what is the soul?), and theology (who or what are the gods?). It provides Loncar’s original interpretation of these categories, explains why they matter now, and explores how the soul is part of a cosmology we have largely forgotten, a world where humans were connected to the cosmos as a living intelligence.

The series gives a clear overview of the history of our idea of the world, our concept of life and how it evolved from the idea of the soul in antiquity into the modern self, and why the gods (whether you believe them or not) are essential aspects of human psychology, history, and myth.

Scientifically informed and mythologically sensitive, it’s the perfect blend of scholarly rigor (it’s exciting to know things) and personal application (we like to know how all those big ideas actually change our life for the better). Participants gain transferable writing and speaking skills, philosophically grounded framework for engaging reality’s big questions, and a greater sense of human agency and power.

Within a few weeks, I experienced significant changes in the concerns that Alex helped me work through. Accessing philosopher Samuel Loncar’s Becoming Human Project classes through my long-term work with Alex has been key to my healing journey and personal transformation.”

A Personal Note from Alex

Read Alex’s Bio

“I do not wish them to have power over men; but over themselves,” writes Mary Wollstonecraft in her Vindication of the Rights of Woman.

This is an Enlightenment ideal inspired by ancient philosophical schools, and it remains a powerful framework for women today.

The reward of a philosophically deep and literarily rich education is that a woman can know her Self and consciously pursue her powerful position in the world because she is the Sovereign of her own life.

We all want to strengthen our friendships and networks, but the most important relationship in your life is the one you have with your Self. It is from that foundation that all other meaningful relationships develop.

In a busy world that wants you silent instead of Sovereign, the path of literature and philosophy as a way of life provides the practical resources and guidance you need to gain deep, lasting self-knowledge for a meaningful life.

  • “Alex is a perceptive, broad-minded, and unfailingly intelligent editor. Any aspiring or established writer would be lucky to work with her.”

Christian Wiman, Clement-Muehl Professor of Communication Arts, Yale University, poet, author, & former Editor of POETRY

  • “Alex is a masterful editor.”

Margaret D. Kamitsuka, the Francis W. and Lydia L. Davis Professor Emeritus of Religion at Oberlin College

  • “Alex not only taught me how to write, she taught me how to think about who I am in the world. I learned to see people and situations around me using writing and editing as powerful life skills."
